our Reunion.

·         Reflections on the Reunion. A year ago when we started organizing, we hoped that the reunion would be a good party. That enough people would show up, that it would be better than the usual rubber chicken affair. What we got was more, much more. A bigger turnout. Great weather. Better food. But we got more than that. We had hoped that #40 would be different, special. That, in our late 50’s, with much of our professional and family lives and achievements behind us, RHS70 people would be anxious to re-meet their high school, junior high school, and grade school classmates, in an honest, non-judgmental manner. That the shared school and hometown experience would form the basis for a modern day relationship that might just last for a while.

Seeing people for the first time in so long. Communicating with them. Sometimes connecting. Seeing them connect with others. Seeing knots of classmates earnestly talking, sharing, trying to make up for lost time. Working the blogs. As we told the group at the main event, we felt that the biggest part was not the party, but the relationships. At this we succeeded, beyond our expectations, and way beyond the expectations of the attendees. We can’t tell you how many classmates came up to us that weekend to thank us for organizing the thing. The thanks were sincere, heart-felt. And people, whether they knew it or not, were thanking us for the reconnections, not the main course at dinner. For bringing our class back together again. Rather, for “putting” our class back together…and better than ever. Better than new. Better than 40 years ago.

In the afterglow of the super successful 40th reunion we have decided a couple of things:
·         Keep the reunion committee together to organize our next reunion, and manage RHS 1970 class issues in the meantime
·         Hold another reunion in 5 years (we cannot wait 10 years!)
·         Maintain the database of classmate contact info
·         Keep this web site going for another 3 years (at least)

·         If you did not attend the reunion – We missed you. Hopefully you heard good things from classmates who did attend. It was a watershed event. We hope to see you at the next reunion, in 5 years. In the meantime, please consider purchasing the reunion CD (see below) to catch you up on classmates.

So, classmates, keep in touch, with us, with others.

And…”see you in 5”.
